Platysmal Bands
& Neck Bands
A doctor-led approach to softening prominent vertical neck bands for a smoother, more relaxed neckline.
About the treatment
A smoother,
more relaxed neck.
The platysma is a broad, flat muscle across the front of the neck. With age or activity, its edges can stand out as vertical bands that become more visible on movement or speech.
What causes neck bands
Prominent bands reflect the pull of the platysma muscle. They are a normal anatomical feature that some people would prefer to soften, particularly when they are visible at rest.
How treatment works
Small injections along the bands can temporarily reduce the muscle's pull, allowing the neck to appear smoother. The effect is gradual and the extent achievable depends on your individual anatomy.
Skin and structure
Treatment addresses muscular banding rather than skin laxity. Where loose skin or volume change is the main concern, a different or combined approach may be more suitable and will be discussed honestly.
Dose and placement
Dose and placement are judged carefully around the neck. Results are reviewed once any change has settled before further treatment is considered.
Good to know
Questions, answered.
How long does treatment for platysmal bands last?
Treatment can soften prominent vertical neck bands by relaxing carefully selected areas of the platysma muscle. Results typically last around 3–4 months. Downtime is minimal, although temporary redness, tenderness or bruising can occur at the injection points.
Can treatment happen at the consultation?
Where clinically appropriate, treatment may be possible on the same day. You will never be pressured to proceed, and may take time to consider the plan.
How are risks discussed?
Expected effects, limitations, alternatives and material risks are explained before consent, along with clear aftercare and contact guidance.
